New mission presidents - Church News

Seven new mission presidents with their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin service about July 1.

A. Lee Bahr, 65, New Jersey Morristown Mission; Mueller Park 9th Ward, Bountiful Utah Mueller Park Stake; ward Sunday School teacher; former bishop and counselor, ward Young Men president, high councilor, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Eastern States Mission. Neuroradiologist, Mountain Medical Physician Specialists. Born in New England, N.D., to Albert Francis and Louie Jean Miner Bahr. Married Carol Ann Frischknecht, 15 children.

A ward Primary teacher, Sister Bahr is a former counselor in ward and stake Primary presidencies, ward Primary president, ward Young Women president and camp director and Relief Society teacher. Born in Lovell, Wyo., to Neil C and Barbara Kay Jones Frischknecht.

Edgar Nain Bolivar, 47, Colombia Cali Mission; Villa Del Prado Ward, Bogota Colombia Granada Stake; counselor in the Colombia Bogota North Mission presidency; former counselor in a stake presidency, counselor in a bishopric, stake Young Men president, branch president and missionary in the Colombia Cali Mission. Technical support representative for the Church. Born in Zipaquira, Cundinamarca, Colombia, to Humberto and Ana Lucia Forero Bolivar. Married Luz Stella Borda Riano, three children.

A seminary teacher, Sister Bolivar is a former ward Relief Society president and counselor, ward Young Women and Primary president, Sunday School teacher and missionary in the Colombia Cali Mission. Born in Bogota, Cundinamarca, Colombia, to Eduardo Borda Sarmiento and Ligia Riano Avila Borda.

Eric Michael Jackson, 56, California San Jose Mission; Hermosa Vista Ward, Mesa Arizona Hermosa Vista Stake; gospel doctrine teacher; former bishop and counselor, counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, ward activities committee chairman and missionary in the Arizona Tempe Mission. Attorney, Jackson White. Born in Fort Ord, Calif., to Gaylen Reece and Lora Evelyn Clarke Jackson. Married Saurell Smith, six children.

Walter Guedes Queiroz Jr., 46, Brazil Florianopolis Mission; Riverwoods Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont North Stake; high priest group leader; former counselor in a bishopric, ward Young Men president, elders quorum president, Scoutmaster and missionary in the Brazil Recife Mission. President/Owner, NewLook, Inc. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Walter Guedes de and Izabel Menezes Melo de Queiroz. Married Claudia Santos, three children.

A counselor in the ward Young Women presidency, Sister Robison is a former counselor in ward Primary and Young Women presidencies, ward Relief Society teacher, Sunday School teacher and ward Primary music leader. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Albert Cornelius and Annie Taylor Van Leeuwen.

Matthew Artell Smith, 55, Tahiti Papeete Mission; Spring Creek 15th Ward, Springville Utah Spring Creek Stake; counselor in the stake presidency; former stake president and counselor, bishop, counselor in a branch presidency at the Provo MTC and missionary in the Tahiti Papeete Mission. Director of Human Resource Development, Brigham Young University. Born in Passaic, N.J., to Franklin Artell and Elfrieda Gertrude Johanna Eppelsheimer Smith. Married Susan Kay Clements, three children.

William George Woods, 57, Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission; Evergreen Ward, Mesa Arizona Central Stake; bishop of the University Ward; former bishop, high councilor, ward mission leader, counselor in a stake Young Men presidency and missionary in the France Paris Mission. Dentist and director of admissions, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. Born in Mesa, Ariz., to George Andrew and Ann Shumway Woods. Married Renee Haumont, seven children.

A temple ordinance worker, Sister Woods is a former ward Young Women president, Sunday School teacher, stake missionary and ward activities committee chairwoman. Born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Pierre Henry Haumont Jr. and Vernece Love Haumont.
